President Speaks

July, 2006

Hello for Enthusiasts
Wow, what can be said?  It is perfect driving weather, and our car shows are coming fast upon us!

We had a very enjoyable time at Lindenwood Park.  If you were not able to make it, you missed some good food and great conversations, along with the excellent opportunity to play with my 2 girls!  The hotdogs were wonderful (thanks again Dean), and of course there was too much food to eat.

As was noted , we are getting into the car show phase of the year.  I am sure Todd F. will be requesting volunteers very soon for the Island Park show.  If you have the availability, please help so that we can continue the great tradition from the past two years.  I wish I could be there, but I will be in California during this time. I am sure all will go well under Todd's capable hands.

Dean S. has sent me an email letting me know that the cardboard car hotdog holders came in.  The cost for the holders came out to be $0.62 each, after shipping.  I am sure these are going to be a hit at the shows.

I have received our business cards from Brenda. they are basically the same as te old ones, with minor updates. If you would like some, please see me after the meeting.

Items for discussion in July:
Mid month committee update
The Island Park and All For Car Shows will be in lieu of mid-month activitites for July and August
Sponsorships
          volunteers for Island Park Show
          Status of business cards
          Other

I am looking forward to seeing you all on the 11th.

Chad, missed

From The Editor

Ford Lover's

The cruise to Hooligan’s was ok, but weather was a problem, cold and rainy. It was still fun to get together and talk about cars. But VW’s and Gremlins? Yeah, I guess. We have a commitment to do both car shows this summer. People have been calling and asking about the shows, even from Canada…so we must be doing something right! The Downtown Cruise night on Thursday, June 1 was fun also. Lots of cars, nice hotrods, bikes and classic cars. It was a nice evening after the late afternoon rain. Next month they will have some dash plaques (not sure how many 25or 50?) and door prizes. Our club had a few winners this time. Someone asked why so many show up for the cruise but don’t show up for a show? Well, this is fre, it is only for a few hours, its on a weekday evening…need I go on? When we were at Hooligan’s we were talking about what engine was in what cars. Did the 64 ½ Mustang have a 289 or were there only 260’s? When did the 302 standard production start? You know the questions, I found a book that kind of shows but is it accurate? Ford always had a tendency to do "running" changes. For some reason I thought the Mustang got a 302 in 67 but they don’t show that. Also, I was told that only one 4 bbl 289 was available in 64 ½ but they list 2, 4bbls and a 2bbl, a cruise-o-matic, 3 speed and 4 speed manual and overdrive. Wow! What do you think, are they right?? Next meeting discussion topic?

See you on Tuesday night, June 13.

Elton
